Got Coconut Oil?

cocooil1I recently embarked on a new dietary journey, and along the way I have come to love coconut oil. How I have never happened upon this versatile wonder before, I don’t know; but now that I have, I am absolutely hooked.

 

And it’s not just the aroma that fills up my kitchen that is delightful. The more I read about it, the more ingenious(and beneficial) uses I have found for this untapped resource. Culinary wise, it’s an excellent replacement for any cooking oils. It adds the slightest flavor of coconut to your meal, yet it is subtle enough to not be overpowering. You can also use it as a salad base instead of olive oil, spread a little bit on bread, pancakes, etc. in lieu of butter and add to your favorite baking recipes for a different flavor.

 

It is an oil, so of course moderation is key; but why switch oils? The health benefits are endless. Coconut oil actually is full of vitamins and minerals, and is a natural antibacterial and antifungal. In fact, it can be used as a mouthwash! You can also take it directly as a vitamin supplement daily to help boost your immune system and improve your skin. Coconut oil can also be used as a body lotion or in your bathtub as you enjoy a therapeutic soak. (I told you it was versatile!)

 

I’ve also read that it helps people with weight loss, and is being researched for its possible memory-enhancing abilities for dementia and Alzheimers patients. That research is actually where I first learned about coconut oil and its health benefits. I thought, why not give it a try? I am so glad I did. It’s now a staple in my house, and led me to other great coconut finds…coconut milk, flour, aminos (soy sauce replacement)…and I am now about to go enjoy some amazing coconut bread I just baked.

 

But don’t just take my word for it. Go check it out at any local health food store, and enjoy any of the unique benefits it has to offer.

Nice blog, informative and helpful. I've been using coconut oil in so many ways, not only for cooking. It's also good for your hair. It can make your hair shiny, healthy and smooth. Thank you for sharing
