The Superfruit: Acai Berry

Acai berries are a Brazilian “superfruit” that are native to the Amazon region. Acai berries are loaded with healthy antioxidants, and they also supply your body with electrolytes, trace minerals, amino acids and even small amounts of essential fatty acids. These small purple berries sure are packed with a punch!

 

 

 

RECIPE: Classic Acai Berry Bowl

INGREDIENTS:

1 - 100g packet frozen acai berry blend
1 banana, frozen
3-4 Tbsp. rolled oats 
2/3 cups apple juice


For Garnish:
Coconut flakes
Strawberries
Blueberries
Banana
Granola
Honey

 

DIRECTIONS:

In a high-powered blender, combine the acai berry packet, frozen banana, oats and apple juice. Blend until completely smooth and pour into a deep bowl. Top with rows of strawberries, blueberries, banana, coconut and granola, then drizzle honey over the top. For a protein boost, add protein powder, peanut butter or almond butter to the mixture before blending.
