When considering adding more plant-based proteins into your diet, black beans are a popular ingredient to boost your energy and your tastebuds. Naturally fortified with antioxidants, fiber, protein and carbohydrates, black beans are good for your eye and heart health. They also regulate your blood sugar and are known to aid in cancer prevention. Looking for a new snack for the holiday season or game day instead of loading up on the sweets? This dip is the perfect way to fuel up on protein while happily filling your belly.

RECIPE: Black Bean and Corn Guacamole

½ cup canned black beans, rinsed and drained
¼ cup cilantro, rinsed and chopped
½ cup red onion, chopped fine
Jalapeno, to taste
Juice of 2 freshly squeezed limes
Salt to taste

DIRECTIONS:
In a large bowl, combine all ingredients and mix well, noting that avocadoes should still be a bit chunky. Transfer to a serving bowl and serve with your favorite tortilla chips or fresh cut veggies.
